A finely detailed original 19th Century charcoal drawing with chalk highlights, depicting a mother and child in repose, amongst a floral arrangement typical for the period. The artist has intended the work to have some allegorical meaning, alluding to piety and the Virgin Mary by including a distant view of a cathedral. Unsigned.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some heavy discolouration and surface abrasion. There is a small hole near the top of the artwork, and some surface losses. Adhesive residue to the edges of the card border.
