Description

A very fine and delicate leather bound sketchbook containing 18 mid 19th Century graphite drawings, mostly dated 1845. The drawings are variously signed, including the names J. Thomas, A. Thomas and A. Fournier. Included as subjects are portraits, figures, genre scenes and architectural landscape studies. Well-presented in a green leather gilt tooled sketchbook, 8vo in landscape, four raised bands to spine, with gilt page edging. Signed and dated and inscribed.

Condition

In very good condition overall, for a sketchbook of this age, particularly the interior. Some scuffing, abrasion and marks to the boards, wear to the spine with some small losses and slight splitting to the bottom. Internally, the pages are clean and crisp, with very sparse and minor foxing spots to some pages. Light even discolouration to the wove, as expected. Tight bindings.
