A very fine and well executed still life study, depicting an overflowing vase of summer flowers. The artist has executed the detailed and highly ornate style wonderfully. The overall composition is clearly influenced by the fashion of the late Victorian era, while also bearing a resemblance to the work of the Dutch Golden Age and artists such as Willem van Aelst.
The painting is excellently presented in a fluted gilt frame with molding detail. Signed with the initials 'F.L' to the lower right corner.
On canvas on stretchers.The painting has undergone some restoration work. There are several small canvas repairs which are visible to the reverse. The largest repair to the lower right. With very minor signs of craquelure. Minor marks to the frame.
