Artist Biography
Francis E. Jamieson (1895–1950) was commonly known for his Scottish landscapes and loch scenes. Jamieson lived on the south coast of England and was contracted to a large department store to supply them with his paintings. The artist often signed with pseudonyms such as 'Phil Hips', 'Graham Williams', 'W. Richards', 'Arnold Pienne', and 'H.B. Davis', in order to reach a wider audience, whilst also selling his work ‘door to door’. Jamieson’s work was often in a traditional Victorian style and his pictures were reproduced as postcards by Ajelli and Co of London in the 1920’s.
