A large painterly still life by Ewoud de Kat (1904–1974), depicting a vibrant floral arrangement in a yellow stoneware jug, accompanied by a small bowl of red fruits in the foreground. The composition features bold red poppies and delicate lupins amongst other garden flowers, rendered in loose, impressionistic brushwork. Well presented in a vintage frame with linen border trim. Signed lower left. On canvas.
Condition
Light surface marks and abrasions to the perimeter of the canvas. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. The frame has minor surface wear, including discolouration to the linen border and small scuffs to the white frame. The artwork is in very good condition for its age.
