Description
A charmingly aged etching showing a man in a long coat and top hat, sitting with his dog sleeping at his feet. The artist has signed and dated in plate at the upper left and signed in graphite to the lower right. Someone has inscribed in attractive pen and ink handwriting a the lower edge "Xmas 1896, Bernard Vauxhall." On watermarked laid.Condition
The laid has some discolouration and foxing across the surface. The original plate lines are intact.

Artist Biography
Painter, mezzotinter and etcher; born in Sowerby, Yorkshire and studied at Hubert von Herkomer's art school at Bushey c1890-92; exhibited at the Royal Academy, Manchester Academy of Fine Arts and Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool; his work included prints copied from works by Gainsborough, Reynolds, Raeburn, and Lawrence; elected Associate RE, 1894; settled in Worthing and died there in 1942. His work is held by the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, Museum of London, the V&A and Worthing Art Gallery.
