Description

A fine and unusual abstract landscape work by the listed 20th Century artist Eric Atkinson, depicting the Bronze Age long barrow landforms at Winterbourne Stoke, Wiltshire, England. In acrylic with glue and aggregates, Atkinson has created this vivid part-sculpture work with raised mounds on the surface of the board. Evoking the geological ancient forms, geometry meets a colourful sense of movement and expression.

Inscribed to the reverse 'Various types of Bronze Age Barrows, Winterbourne Stoke Cemetery (Earlier Neolithic Long Barrow) Near Stonehenge', and also signed and dated June '77 to the reverse.

On board.

Condition

In good condition overall. Some scuffing and light abrasions. There is a small area of paint loss to the centre, and three small holes in one of the smaller circle forms, though likely made by the artist.

Size

72.7 x 76.2cm (28.6" x 30")
