The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration, minor surface marks and areas of craquelure. Inspection under UV light reveals very minor restoration. Some scuffs and areas of restoration to the frame.

Essex-born painter of flower pieces and landscapes, the daughter of the Rector of the local church. Emily studied at the Slade School under Fred Brown, Henry Tonks and Philip Wilson Steer. A prolific exhibitor, she showed at the Abbey Gallery, Connell & Sons, GG, GI, Goupil Gallery, ISSPG, MAFA, NEAC, RA, RHA, ROI who elected her a member in 1915, SWA who elected her in 1927, Walker Art Gallery and the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris. Examples of her fine impressionistic paintings are held by the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust and Kirklees Museums and Galleries. Emily Court died in Fulham, London.
