Artist Biography
Elizabeth Smith is a British landscape artist, who works predominantly in pastel and oil. Her landscape and marine subjects are completed from sketches and reference photographs done at the scene. Elizabeth says of her work "I seek inspiration from the landscape all around the country and am never disappointed. My aim is often to simplify the scene, using strong composition and carefully controlled tone and colour, in the hope of capturing something of both the unique quality of the subject on that particular day and the timelessness of the landscape".
In 2008 Elizabeth was elected Vice President of the Royal Society of Marine Artists. She has consistently exhibited with the society since 1998.
