The painting has been presented in a thin wood frame with a gilt inner window, glazing and a wash-line mount. There is a label at the back with a reference photograph and information on the town of Keighley.
On wove.The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. The frame is in fine condition.

Edwin Riby (1866-1927) was born in Scarborough, but moved to Keighley in 1888 and became a respected local artist, carver, gilder and picture frame maker/picture seller, operating from business premises in the town. Edwin lived at Carlton Street, Beechcliffe, near Keighley, and was an active member, including Chairmanship, of the Keighley Art Club. He was a prolific painter of portraits, landscapes, country genre scenes, and other subjects to commission. He also painted a series of pictures of old Keighley, which became popular as prints in the town. Edwin was an associate of the British Watercolour Society, and in his latter years toured Canada, painting landscape views that sold well there. He also taught art and was an Art Master at both the Glusburn and Oakworth Municipal Institutions, and at local Catholic day and evening art classes for adults.
