Sulis Fine Art is delighted to present a very fine woodcut by the British artist Edward Loxton Knight. This wonderful landscape depicts a quiet country lane, with large tree and rickety old signpost at a crossroads. Well presented in a modern gilt effect frame and cream card mount. Inscribed in graphite with the print number 28/50. Signed in graphite. On wove.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some very minor discolouration and foxing, which is most noticeable to the lower edge of the paper. Very minor scuffs to the corners of the frame.

Artist Biography
Painter and etcher, born at Long Eaton, Derbyshire, he studied at Nottingham School of Art under Joseph Else, 1924-29, and exhibited between 1924-39, mainly at the Brook Street Art Gallery, London and the RBA of which he was an elected member. He also showed at the RA, ROI, RI, in London and provincial galleries and abroad. Knight was also a member of the Society of Graver-Printmakers in Colour and his work is represented in the collection of Erewash Museum, Mabey Collection, NRM, Nottingham Art Gallery and Towner Art Gallery. As a commercial artist, he produced at least one poster for Sandeman’s Port.
