Description

A stipple engraving coloured a la poupee by Edward Jackson Stodart (1879-1934) after Pierre-Antoine Baudouin (1723-1769). Presented in a wash line mount with gold detailing and a distressed gilt-effect wooden frame with a bead course to the inner edge. The date and publication information are inscribed in plate at the upper edge. Signed in graphite to the lower-right edge. There is a label on the verso inscribed with the title. On wove.

Condition

There is some slight discolouration to the margins and some minor chips to the frame. Overall in very good condition.

Edward Jackson Stodart (1879-1934) was an English reproductions engraver. He was the son of Edward William Stodart (1841-1914). He was active as an engraver and executed a reproduction of Fragonard's 'The Swing'.
