Edward Bouverie Hoyton (1900-1988) was a printmaker and engraver, born in Lewisham, London. He attended Goldsmiths' College and won the Prix de Rome in engraving in 1926. Bouverie Hoyton taught at Leeds College of Art, before being appointed to the position of Principal of Penzance School of Art. He was elected to the National Society of Painters, Sculptors and Printmakers in 1931, the Royal Society of British Artists in 1936, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 1958. Until 1981, Bouverie Hoyton was Vice President and Chairman of the St Ives Society of Artists and was a regular exhibitor at the Society, as well as at the Royal Academy and Royal Society of British Artists. The Ashmolean, British Museum, Hunterian, University of Wales, Aberystwyth, and Victoria & Albert Museum hold examples of his work.
