A striking portrait by the Armenian artist Edvard Sasun. Here he has captured an elderly woman with a haunting expression, she wears a silk scarf and muted clothes. Completed with expressive brushwork and areas of impasto. Well presented in a gilt effect frame. Signed to the reverse. On canvas on stretchers.Condition
Overall in good condition. There are some minor surface marks to the canvas but there are no signs of restoration. Some marks and scuffs to the frame.

Artist Biography
Edvard Sasun is an Armenian painter who currently resides in Thailand. He was born in 1955 in Armenia and was first educated as a mathematician at the Yerevan State University of Armenia. However, after deciding on a career change he was later accepted at the Academy in St. Petersburg. Sasun has exhibited frequently within Russia and taken part in the Europe 'ART 2000 in Geneva and also held a solo show at the National Gallery in Thailand (1999).
