Painter, born Seacroft, Leeds who studied at Leeds College of Art, 1948-53. She taught for several years until 1960 when she turned to painting as a full-time career. Her fascination with the industrial landscape of northern England led to the production of many fine watercolours of mills, market places, chimney stacks and slag heaps. Her attentions later focused on London and her paintings of buildings were often reproduced in the Illustrated London News. She was the first artist to hold an exhibition at the picture gallery in the Science Museum at South Kensington. She died while the exhibition was in progress. A posthumous retrospective exhibition was held at Scarborough Art Gallery in 2000. Examples of her work are held in the collections of the Science Museum and Imperial College, London.
