An original early twentieth-century etching of farm workers in San Sebastian by Edmund Blampied (1886-1966). Well presented in a wooden frame with a gilt-effect slip and dark green mount. Signed and dated within the plate, and signed in pencil to the lower margin. On paper.Condition
Signs of wear consistent with age including discolouration and foxing. Marks and scuffs to the frame.

Artist Biography
Edmund Blampied (1886-1966) was a painter, etcher and illustrator born in Jersey. He studied at the Lambeth School of Art and at the London County Council Bolt Court Art School. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, The Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour, Royal Hibernian Academy, Senefelder Club, and Paris Salon and was elected an Associate of The Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers in 1920, a full member in 1921, and The Royal Society of British Artists in 1938. In 1925 Blampied won a gold medal for lithography at the Paris International Exhibition. He lived in Jersey for many years and throughout the German occupation. He also designed Jersey occupation stamps and a Jersey liberation stamp and illustrated several books and articles in the Illustrated London News, The Graphic, Pearson's Magazine and The Sketch.
