Artist Biography
A portrait painter, Honor Earl as she was best known worked mainly in pastel. Her sitters ranging from paupers and prisoners to four generations of the Royal Family. Her father was Viscount Maugham, a lawyer, later to become Lord Chancellor under Neville Chamberlain and Honor was the niece of Somerset Maugham. Little is known of her artistic training or her exhibiting career but a portrait by her is in the collection of the Museum of the Order of St John, Clerkenwell, London.
