Early 20th Century Oil - Bonny Child

Description

A fine turn-of-the-century portrait of a young child wearing a pink dress and white bib. Presented in an ornate gilt frame with leaf and berry moulding to the outer edge, floral and foliate moulding to the cove, and a running egg and dart pattern to the inner edge. Unsigned. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

There are three small areas of restoration to the canvas at the sitter's left eyebrow, the left edge, and the lower-left quadrant. Inspection under UV light reveals some sophisticated retouching in these areas. There is some stable craquelure across the painting and some slight surface dirt. There are stable cracks and mild marks to the frame. Overall well-presented and in very good condition.
