Description

A finely detailed graphite study of a statue of Marcellus, nephew of Emperor Augustus who founded the Roman Empire. The statue is held in the Louvre. The drawing features subtle white highlights to give the appearance of marble. Well presented in a vintage gilt-effect frame. Unsigned. On paper.

Condition

Signs of wear consistent with age. Discolouration and light foxing to the paper. Crease lines throughout. Tears to the lower and upper left. Wear to the frame leaves it with a vintage, distressed finish.

Size

31 x 24.5cm (12.2" x 9.6")
Framed Size: 35 x 28cm (13.8" x 11.0")
