A watercolour and body colour portrait of a young woman named Jane Hart. She was the daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel Simon Hart and married Reverend Hosea Guinness in January 1794, going on to have six children. The detailed likeness of the sitter's face is particularly well-executed, complimented by the painterly fluidity of her clothing. There are several labels on the verso which include the subject's name, including a hand-drawn family tree. Presented glazed in a gold card mount and a gilt frame with ornate foliate and floral moulding at the corners. Unsigned. On wove.

There is foxing and discolouration to the painting and some marks and scuffs to the frame.
