A very fine example of early 19th Century landscape painting, this oil scene shows a dramatic mountain range with rolling green fields and a small town in the foothills. Cattle sit in the foreground on a promontory jutting out into a serene lake with verdant foliage on either side. The scene has the signature flat, almost naive style of the landscapes from this ear. The painting is unsigned and has been fully re-lined. On re-lined canvas.
