Description
An engraving by Edmund Scott (1746-1810) after Thomas Stothard (1755-1834) depicting three young men rushing to the defence of a young woman from Bacchanalian spirits in a forest. Inscribed with the title and names of the artists in plate to the lower edge. There is an identical impression in the collection of the British Museum, from which the date is taken. On wove laid to card.Condition
Cropped within the plate lines. There are extensive marks and closed tears to the substrate and some losses to the corners. The title and artist information have also been copied out in graphite at the upper margin.
