E. Schafer - Late 19th Century Watercolour Soissons
Description
A late 19thC watercolour street scene showing Soissons, a commune in the northern French department of Aisne, in the region of Hauts-de-France. The artist has signed faintly in the lower right corner and inscribed in the lower left.
The painting is presented in a decorative gilt effect frame with swept rail and corners. The frame is completed with glazing and a gold card mount.
On wove.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. The mount has uneven discolouration, areas of water damage to the lower edge and scratching to the middle of the right edge. The frame has an area of loss to the filigree at the lower right corner.
