An etching depicting the view through an ornate iron gateway to a historic courtyard with a fountain at its centre. Signed in plate to the lower-left edge. On wove.

Artist Biography

E. Mary Shelley flourished in England in the 1920s and exhibited at the Royal Academy of Art. She was mentioned in the first 1922 edition of 'The Connoisseur', an illustrated magazine for collectors. The Walker Gallery devoted an entire room to what they termed her 'conscientious etchings'.
