Dutch School Mid 19th Century Oil - Morning at the Farm

Description

A fine example of a 19th century Dutch school landscape scene. The picture depicts two farmers in conversation beside a lake with a small herd of sheep around them. the scene looks over the rest of the farm with thatched barns and a cottage illuminated by the early morning sun. The artist shows an exquisite attention to detail in the buildings and figures matched with an excelling perception of light, bringing an element of depth to the scene. Unsigned. Presented in an ornate gilt frame with c-scrolling foliate details. On panel.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration caused by ingrained surface dirt. There is a significant crack running across the lower centre of the painting caused by the joining of the panel which can be seen to the reverse. Some light scuffing to the edges of the board with light surface marks.
