Dutch School 19th Century Oil - Stacking Glasses
Description
A charming Dutch tavern scene featuring two friends at a table. The gentleman on the left skillfully balances a stack of glasses in his hands, whilst his companion looks on in amusement. Unsigned. Well presented in a gilt frame with a delicate running pattern to the inner edge. On panel.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration to the varnish and fine craquelure throughout. Light abrasions throughout. Inspection under UV light reveals very small areas of overpainting, notably to the gentleman on the right. Some historic woodworm damage to the reverse of the panel; however, this has been fully treated and the artwork is pest-free. The frame shows signs of wear consistent with age, including scuffs throughout and chips to the edges.
