The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. The original plate lines are in tact. There is a crease to the lower left edge and centre of the page and a tear in the centre at the lower edge.

Of the 212 plates in the original volume, 79 were by Picart's hand, with many others by a range of Dutch engravers working in Amsterdam at the time. Each is entitled in six different languages.
These lavish, highly figurative illustrations represent the continued artistic accomplishments of the Netherlands in the 18th Century, decades on from the Dutch Golden Age.
