Douglas Smart - Original 1945 Etching. The original pen and ink artwork and the final etching, both of which were found amongst the artist's studio collection. Signed in pencil and in plate. Size of drawing/etching: 21 x 14cm, size of mount: 42 x 29cm. Biography attached. Signed and dated and inscribed. In fine condition.

Douglas I. Smart, R.E (1879-1970) was an etcher and watercolourist of architectural subjects. He studied etching and engraving under Sir. Frank Short. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers and was elected A.R.E in 1905. He lived in London for many years and later at Lee-on-the-Solent in Hampshire. His work can be found at the National Maritime Museum.
