Artist Biography
Douglas Sharpus Andrews (1885-1944) was a painter and illustrator, born at Brighton. He studied art at the RCA, 1907-10 and during World War I he saw active service with the Royal Artillery. He made numerous sketches of the war, some of which are in the collection of the Imperial War Museum. His work was exhibited at the RA, RWA, and SGA of which he was an elected member. He was Principal of several schools including Bath Academy of Art, Derby School of Art, Leeds College of Art, and Sheffield College of Art. Leeds City Art Gallery hold an example of his work.
