Dorothy Fitchew was an illustrator and painter nee Julia Dorothy G. Fitchew in Camberwell, London the daughter of artist and editor Edward Hubert Fitchew, (1851-1934). Details of her art education are as yet not known but as an exhibitor, she showed at the Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Society of Women Artists and the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool.
Fitchew was a painter of landscapes and appears to have specialised in botanical subjects. The electoral roll for 1939 records her as living in Bromley, Kent working as a 'Scientific Artist'. She appears to have lived in Bromley all her adult life.
