Donald Maclaren - Original Early 20th Century Coloured Pencil. Pen and ink with coloured pencil. Signed on verso. Signed. Condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration with a water stain on the sky. Outside of plate contains scattered foxing and removed tape marks.Born 23 January 1886 in Kensington, London, the son of the architect James M. MacLaren and nephew of D. S. MacColl. Studied at the Slade School on a county council scholarship 1903–8, winning several prizes for figure compositions. Exhibited at the N.E.A.C. from 1907 and at the Friday Club. Taught art at Liverpool Technical School. Served in the 1914–18 war and was killed in action 29 June 1917.For more information please click here.
