Description

A captivating mixed media painting with gouache, pastel and charcoal, depicting a rural landscape scene with an old sheep pen. Title, signature and date inscribed to the lower right-hand corner. Well-presented in a double card mount and in a light grey wooden frame with an inner gilt-effect detail. There is an artist's label on the reverse. On wove.

Condition

In fine condition overall, with minor puncture holes to the four corners. Light marks to the mount and very small scuffs to the frame.

Artist Biography

Painter who studied at Colchester School of Art, 1953-56 under John O’Connor. Page has worked as a Graphic Designer, in both Publishing and Advertising and is a Licentiate of the Society of Industrial Artists. A regular exhibitor at the RA RWS and RWA, Bristol, she received the RWA Watercolour Award in 1983 and is a member of that Society having been elected in 1993. She is also a member of the SWA. She has also shown at the Phoenix Gallery, Lavenham, with the Colchester Art Society and with the Ipswich Art Club. Examples of her work are in the collections of the Chelmsford Museum and Art Gallery, Nuffield Foundation, Guinness plc, Suffolk Education Committee, Essex Education Committee, Glamorgan Education Committee, the Faculty of Design, Bristol University, National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth and at the Minories, Colchester.
