David Wood was a painter born in Scotland the grandson of artist Frank Watson Wood. He studied art at Edinburgh College of Art, Sir John Cass College of Art, London and later at the Slade School of Fine Art in London.
He exhibited extensively, including at the Royal Society of British Artists, Colchester Art Society, The Minories in Colchester, the John Russell Gallery in Ipswich, and Chappel Galleries in Essex. Wood was a member of the Ipswich Art Club and as a printmaker, he was involved with the Gainsborough's House Print Workshop in Sudbury. Examples of his work are held in the collections of the Royal College of Art and the Atkinson Art Gallery, Southport. David Wood ran a gallery and lived for many years at Gould House, Dedham.
