A very fine rural village landscape with houses and a church, in pastel, by the well-listed artist David Mynett (1943-2013). With a distinctly careful treatment of light, the artist has created a gentle distant village view over a pond with reeds and foliage. The muted palette and use of lines to portray form give this work an element of the autumnal season. Well-presented in a textured mount with gilt frame, as shown. Signed and dated. On wove.

Condition

In fine condition overall. The frame has some minor scuffing and marks to the corners.

Artist Biography

David Mynett (1942-2013) was a former barrister and farmer who was educated at Shrewsbury and Magdalen College Oxford. He was a painter whose inspiration came from the ever changing light on the landscape. A previous resident tutor at the Can Xenet School of Painting in Majorca, Mynett's paintings hang in public and private collections in Europe, America and Japan.
