Painter of landscapes in oil, who was born in Rainhill, St. Helen's, Lancashire and later lived in Beddgelert, North Wales where he became a parish, district and county Councillor. A Member of the Liver Sketching Club and the St. Helens Sketching Club, he exhibited at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, Royal Academy, Royal Cambrian Academy and with the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. Examples of his work are in the collection of St. Helens Council and the NLW. His brother was artist H. E. Hewitt. He should not be confused with the American based abstract painter of the same name.
