And landscape depicting sheep and cows drinking from the river with a bridge and buildings visible in the distance. Presented glazed in a grey double mount and a brushed gilt-effect frame. Signed and dated to the lower-right edge. Inscribed with the location to the lower-left edge. On watercolour paper.


There is some minor discoloration but overall in very good condition.

Artist Biography

David Birch is a landscape and architecture artist who paints in watercolour. He is also a wood-engraver and printmaker. Birch was initially a farmer in Warwickshire, Herefordshire and the Cotswolds. His art training, being informal, came from working for a premier fine art and antique dealer in London and Broadway, Worcestershire and from studying form as a dealer in period watercolours. He became a professional watercolour artist in 1974. His home and studio are in Chipping Campden. Birch has held over one hundred solo exhibitions and has paintings in the collections of Gloucester City Art Gallery, The Senate House, Bristol University, and private collections.
