A fine nautical oil from the early 20th Century, showing the Flying Cloud on a voyage under a calm sky. The artist has signed to the lower left corner and the painting has been presented in a 20th Century brown frame with gilt slip. The artist has inscribed the title and their name at the reverse. On canvas.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. Some wear at the right outer edge of the canvas. The frame has a contemporary finish applied.

Collection Information
Flying Cloud was a clipper ship that set the world sailing record for the fastest passage between New York and San Francisco, 89 days 8 hours. The ship held this record for over 130 years, from 1854 to 1989. Flying Cloud was the most famous of the clippers built by Donald McKay.
