An American lithograph by D. Wiest, published in Philadelphia, after the painting 'The Rescue of John Wesley from the Epworth Rectory Fire' (1840) by Henry Perlee Parker (1785-1873). The lithograph depicts the Anglican minister, theologian, and Methodist Church founder John Wesley (1703-1791) being rescued from a fire as a child in 1709. A man stands on the shoulders of another in order to rescue Wesley from a window. Inscribed with the title and publication information in plate to the lower edge. Condition
There are some mild sports of foxing and surface marks. There is a small tear to the substrate at the lower-left edge and some creases at the lower-right edge. Overall in good condition.
