Description

An interesting etching by Cyril Henry Barraud of the Borough Road Training School in London, at which Isaac Pitman was trained in 1832. Pitman developed the most commonly used form of shorthand writing and was president of the Vegetarian society. A handwritten note is also with the etching from 'I.J. & M.B. Pitman, Christmas 1938'. Artist Biography

Cyril Henry Barraud was a British artist. He was the son of Herbert Rose Barraud and nephew of Francis Barraud. After education at Downside School, he trained at Brighton School of Art and then worked as a manager at his father's photographic business before becoming a full-time artist.
