Artist Biography
Constant Léon Duval (1877–1956) was born in Champlay, Yonne, France. He trained as a painter under Antoine Guillemet and Paul Michel Dupuy before turning his attention to graphic design. Between 1910 and 1936, Duval produced posters for major French and Belgian railway companies, including the Chemins de Fer de l’État, Chemins de Fer d’Orléans, and the Chemin de Fer de Paris à Orléans. His work mainly promoted destinations in northern France, Brittany, Normandy, and Belgium. Duval died in 1956 in Saint-Piat, Eure-et-Loir, France.
