Painter and etcher, born in London and studied at Richmond School of Art and Putney School of Art, 1922-25, and RA Schools, 1926-1927 and between 1928-29 the lived in Paris studying under André L'Hote. the held his first solo exhibition at Beaux Arts Gallery in 1935 and during World War II worked as a stretcher bearer. the exhibited regularly at Roland, Browse & Delbanco, the Anthony d'Offay Gallery and elsewhere. His work is represented in Bradford Art Gallery, V&A, Ferens Art Gallery, Hastings Museum and Art Gallery, Hull University Art Collection, National Museums Northern Ireland, NMW, Museum of London, Imperial War Museum, Ruth Borchard Self-Portrait Collection and elsewhere. The Belgrave Gallery held a retrospective exhibition in 1977 and a studio was held at Christie's, South Kensington, London, 1982. In the late 1960’s the began a new series of pictures depicting women wrapped in towels, mysterious with unseen faces. Hall latterly married one of his students the met at Regent Street Polytechnic School of Art, Ann Hewson.
