A fine and detailed watercolour with graphite and pen and ink details, by the British artist Clifford H. Thompson (1926-2017). Thompson has depicted a view of the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy, with the two domes of the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute visible behind the classical architecture and famous 'Paline de Casada', or striped mooring poles. To the reverse, there is a preparatory sketch by the artist, of a street scene. Unsigned. On wove.
