The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some surface yellowing, discolouration and craquelure. There are several small areas of surface restoration, some only visible under UV light. The canvas has been relined and laid to a new canvas, and there is some creasing from the previous stretchers. There is a restored 2.5cm canvas tear to the lower left-hand quadrant. There is a small area of surface paint loss to the upper left corner.
