Description

A striking early 19th Century portrait in charcoal, showing an elegant young woman. Her dress and the style of her hair date this portrait around 1830. Her soft, sloping shoulders and small cherubic features are typical features of portraits of this era, popularized by Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres. The drawing is unsigned and handsomely presented in an early 20th Century gilt frame with swept and pierced rail and corners with delicate acanthus and floral details, finished with a card mount. On wove.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and light foxing. There is some restoration, tarnishing, scuffing and minor losses to the frame.
