Description

A fine lithograph depicting the well-known work 'A Dawn, 1914' by the well-collected artist Christopher R.W. Nevinson (1889-1946). The work shows French infantrymen marching with a relentless machine-like rhythm to the battle front. The soldiers are reduced to a series of angular planes and grey colouring, losing their individuality and appearing almost like machines, holding bayoneted rifles. Published 1932 in 'Modern Masters of Etching: C.R. Nevinson' by The Studio, London. On wove fixed to another piece of wove along the top edge. Unsigned.
