Collection Information

In the Chinese tradition, the Sage serves as a symbol of human perfection. Benevolent, hard-working and wise, Sages are seen as a universal example of morality, embodying a self consciousness that all people should strive to obtain.

This delightful collection of six watercolours depict Sages carrying out activities which embody their values. Subdued and intricate, these early 20th century studies are a charismatic take on traditional Chinese values.
