Painter, born in Bristol, the son of the artist Charles Branwhite, (1817-1880) who taught his son the rudiments of painting before he sent him to study art at the South Kensington Schools in London. He also studied under William Muller, whose style greatly influenced his work. He showed works at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, Manchester Academy of Fine Arts, Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Cambrian Academy, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours and at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.
Branwhite painted mostly in oils and in 1905 he was elected a member of the Bristol Savages over which he presided as President from 1914-19. He was also a member of the RWA, 1913 two of his works are in Bristol Art Gallery with another in the Mansion House in that city.
