Artist Biography
Cecil Rochfort D’Oyly-John was born in South Africa in 1906. He later lived in London, Brighton and Rottingdean on the south coast of England.
Travelling widely in Europe he painted many Mediterranean landscape and seascapes. Subjects include Nice, Venice, Cap d'Antibes, Costa Brava, San Tropez, Monte Carlo, Cassis, Cannes, Biarritz, Villefranche, Beaulieu, Portofino and Menton to name a few.
He also painted in Bermuda, Brizil, Madeira, Ireland, Trinidad, Scotland and Tabago.
Many of his paintings were made into prints in the 1950's and 1960's which were very popular and sold in large numbers.
His paintings can be recognised by his thick application of paint by palette knife and bright tones.
