She holds a red garnet rosary with a small cross. Her long dark hair falls loosely, and she wears a white chemise-style garment with a red shawl draped across her lower body. The soft, atmospheric treatment of the background and the sentimental, devotional quality of the subject suggest a 19th-century academic work. Presented in a gilt Lely panel frame. Unsigned. Condition
The artwork exhibits signs of wear consistent with age. Fine craquelure is observed throughout the paint surface. Inspection under UV light reveals some previous restoration. Minor abrasions to the perimeter of the canvas from movement in the frame. The frame has a fine patina of age. The overall condition of the artwork is very good.
