An atmospheric landscape painting depicting a sun-drenched Amsterdam waterway, where boatmen and barges are scattered along the canal, extending towards Dutch gabled buildings on the far right. The scene is captured in a loose Impressionist style with particular emphasis on light and depth. Well presented in an ornate gilt-effect frame complete with shell and scrolling acanthus ornamentation. Signed 'P. A Wagemans' lower right. On canvas.
Condition
Signs of wear consistent with age. Light marks to the upper third of the composition. There is a small dent near centre of the canvas. The gilt effect frame shows signs of light wear and stable cracking. The overall condition of the artwork is good.
